FadeFocus (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is dedicated to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency regarding how your data is handled when you use the FadeFocus Chrome Extension (“the Extension”).

1. Core Principle: 100% Local Storage

FadeFocus is engineered as a strictly local, privacy-first productivity tool. We do not collect, transmit, distribute, sell, or monetize any of your personal data.

All data generated by the Extension remains entirely on your device.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not operate any external servers, databases, or analytics platforms. As a result, we do not collect or have access to:

• Your browsing history
• Your IP address or location data
• Your name, email address, or contact information
• The content of the websites you visit
• Advertising or tracking data

3. How We Use Extension Permissions

To achieve its core functionality—physically fading distracted websites and maintaining focus timers—FadeFocus requires specific browser permissions. Here is how they are used locally on your machine:

• Storage (storage): Used exclusively to save your custom blocklists, presets, time limits, and daily usage statistics into your browser’s local storage sync.
• Active Tabs (tabs): Used strictly to compare the URL of your currently active tab against your local blocklist to determine if the greyscale fading effect should be applied.
• Background Timers (alarms): Used to reliably track time spent on tracked websites even when the extension popup is closed.
• Script Injection (scripting): Used to inject the fading CSS styles and warning banner directly into the specific page you have chosen to block.
• Notifications (notifications): Used to alert you on your desktop exactly 1 minute before your focus time limit expires on a tracked site.
• Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Required because you are allowed to add any website on the internet to your personal blocklist. FadeFocus must have permission to inject its fading script onto whatever arbitrary site you manually define.

4. Third-Party Access

Because FadeFocus does not transmit data, there is no third-party access to your blocklists or usage statistics. Your data can only be accessed by you, directly from the device where the Extension is installed.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our extension or browser requirements. However, our core commitment to 100% local, offline storage will never change.
